Here is the short version of the story behind the logo we used for our first four seasons. In Prague, I was — and still am — a member of the country's largest winter swimming club, I. PKO Praha. The initials stand for First Cold-Water Swimming Club, and Praha means it is in Prague :-)
When I moved from Prague to Dobrá and began thinking about how to carry on swimming, I spoke to my friend Tomáš Prokop, the Prague club's chairman. We agreed that, if I could bring a local group together, we would act as a branch or a second base for the Prague club. We would use the same logo, replacing Prague with FM. Anyone wishing to compete would join I. PKO Praha and represent that club.
Nobody expected a group that originally consisted of just Ota Zemek and Martin Tvardek to become the wonderful community Otužilci FM is today. But a happy combination of circumstances made it happen. The time has come to present ourselves as locals who are proud of their lovely town.
After a great deal of thought, the creative team at the Geparts design and advertising studio in Místek came up with a new logo. If you recognise the outlines of U Žida weir and Lysá hora, you are right. It could hardly be more local. Many thanks to Jirka Janík and Katka Březinová, who helped bring the logo into being and shape its final form.
The two logos will coexist for as long as our existing stickers, caps, patches and other items last. Over time, the old one will fade from memory, while the new one will hopefully be with us for at least fifty years.
