After repeated restrictions on the Otužilci FM YouTube channel, I decided to move the videos to Zonerama. It is mainly an archive; new videos mostly go on Facebook, where things are happening. Either way, these videos are part of our history, and it would be a shame to lose them altogether.
Here is the short version of the story behind the logo we used for our first four seasons. In Prague, I was — and still am — a member of the country's largest winter swimming club, I. PKO Praha. The initials stand for First Cold-Water Swimming Club, and Praha means it is in Prague :-)
Our cold-water swimming photo archive has grown to more than 20 GB, so I have moved it all to Zonerama. Have a look back through the years: who do you recognise, and who has changed?
This was the saddest swim we have ever had at U Žida. David Grygar died overnight on Thursday: our big-hearted friend, an athlete and a hard worker who fought a serious illness.
Our first-ever swimming caps in club colours have arrived: comfortable seamless silicone with a five-colour logo. They look good, but more importantly they are practical winter swimming kit. Immersing your head feels great and makes front crawl and breaststroke more comfortable. It simply works better with a cap.
This is the first video of our cold-water swimming. We have only been meeting for a few weeks, and look how many of us there are! I really hope that in five years we will number at least fifty, and that cold-water swimming will be part of life in our lovely Frýdek-Místek, just as it is in Prague. All it takes is regularity and consistency. Join us and become a cold-water swimmer. It is easier than it looks.
