A warm invitation to everyone who enjoys winter swimming and cold exposure: join us for the opening of the cold-water swimming season in Frýdek-Místek.
From Saturday 2 October 2021 until spring 2022, we will swim together below U Žida, the Staroměstský weir, every Monday and Wednesday at 4pm and Saturday at 9am.
Although you can start at any time, late summer is the easiest time to begin. Both the river and the air are pleasantly warm, allowing your body to get used to the cold gradually. By midwinter, those who begin in early October will be swimming comfortably in water that is on the verge of turning to ice.
The hardest part is finding the will to keep going. Few people stick with it alone or in a very small group, and swimming alone is also dangerous. A bigger group gives you the best chance, ideally with someone experienced to explain what to do and what to avoid.
Otužilci Frýdek-Místek offer both: the company of dozens of men and women of all ages, interesting people with many other hobbies, and informed advice from more experienced swimmers.
You will find everything you need in the Beginners and FAQ sections of this website. If anything is unclear, email, send a WhatsApp message or call. The details are, naturally, on the Contact page.
I look forward to meeting everyone thinking, ‘This is the year I will do it.’ I will help you get started, and we will have a great time.
Come to U Žida on Saturday 2 October 2021 at 9am.
See you by the water,
Ota
