Registration is now open for the second Cold-Water Duathlon. The race is part of the joint end-of-season gathering for the Frýdek-Místek and Frýdlant nad Ostravicí cold-water swimming groups, starting at 9 am on 30 March 2024.

You can also register in person with a member of the organising team at our regular activities: swimming at U Žida on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4 pm and Saturdays at 9 am; swimming in Frýdlant nad Ostravicí on Sundays at 10 am; or running the Válcovenské steps on Sundays at 9 am.

When registering, pay the CZK 100 entry fee into the publicly viewable bank account 5374324053/0800, or
pay cash to a member of the organising team if you are entering in person.
Each competitor must make a separate payment. Enter your year of birth in the payment's
variable symbol field and your first name and surname in the message to the recipient.
Do not combine payments for several competitors.

Duathlon 2024 — race rules
Organisers: the Frýdek-Místek cold-water swimming club (OFM) and the Frýdlant nad
Ostravicí cold-water swimming club (OFNO).
Date: Saturday 30 March 2024.
Venue: U Žida weir, Frýdek-Místek.
Organising team: Pavla Pavelková (race director), Otakar Zemek (founder and lead organiser of
OFM), Petr Paseka and Pavel Jiřík (founders of OFNO).
Entries must be submitted by 25 March 2024, using one of the following methods:

- Register in person with a member of the organising team at regular OFM meetings at U Žida weir or
at the Válcovenské steps run (Mondays and Wednesdays at 4 pm, Saturdays at 9 am, Sundays at 9 am), or
at regular OFNO meetings at the weir in Frýdlant nad Ostravicí (Sundays at 10 am). - The race is open to OFM and OFNO club members and their friends, subject to approval by
the organising team. - An entry is valid once the qualifying swim has been completed, the entry fee paid and approval given by
the organising team.
The entry fee is CZK 100, payable to the publicly viewable bank account 5374324053/0800, or
in cash to a member of the organising team when entering in person.
Each competitor must pay separately. Enter your year of birth in the payment's
variable symbol field and your first name and surname in the message to the recipient.
Do not combine payments for several competitors.
Check-in is at the venue from 8 am until 9.15 am at the latest. Each competitor receives
a race number, which will also be written on their right shoulder with a marker.
The number must be clearly visible on the chest during the running sections.
Entries are limited to 50 men and 50 women.
Qualification: competitors must have demonstrably completed
a qualifying swim across the river and back, witnessed by a member of the organising team,
no later than the day before the race. You may therefore register before completing
the qualifying swim and do it afterwards. Anyone who has not completed it
will not be allowed to start on race day.
Race format and route: the race combines running (two laps), swimming across the river and running (one lap).
After the start, competitors run two laps around the small wood towards the town centre.
They may enter the water anywhere along the prepared concrete bank at U Žida weir,
but must reach the main river through the entry pool. Entry over the pool wall
or opposite the steps is permitted. At the far bank, competitors must slap the checkpoint stone.
Any means of crossing is allowed, including any swimming stroke or walking through the water.
The return follows the same principle: competitors may take any route
provided they leave the water through the entry pool. After the swim, every competitor
must remove their swimwear, including both pieces of a two-piece swimsuit, and put on dry clothing
consisting of at least a vest or T-shirt and shorts. They then run one final lap around the small wood towards the town centre. There are two categories, men and women, with separate races.
Medals and raffle: the first three men and first three women receive winners' medals.
Everyone who finishes receives a participation medal. A raffle for all competitors
will follow the race.
By registering, participants confirm that they compete at their own risk and will start only
if their health allows them to complete the race safely.
Entry fees are non-refundable if a competitor does not attend and will be used to cover
the costs of organising the race.
