Dear fellow cold-water swimmers,
Because of a number of new Covid restrictions, I am temporarily suspending our group winter swims at U Žida from 1 March 2021.
As an eternal optimist, I would like to stress three things. First, it has been an exceptionally good season, with the weather on our side. Second, contrary to expectations, the authorities did not disperse us — hopefully not just by chance — and our sessions ran almost without interruption. Third, there is good reason to hope the situation will improve soon and we will meet again before autumn.
Add the fact that we can swim at other times and places, and things are not entirely hopeless for winter swimmers even now.
One request: please do not try to get around the restrictions. Avoid U Žida on Mondays and Wednesdays around 3–5pm and Saturdays around 9am. No ‘chance meetings’ of conveniently passing pairs, please. I will set an example by swimming elsewhere at those times.
